Ancient Egypt was a society that began in about 3500 BC and lasted until 20 BC when it was invaded by the British Empire.

Egypt grew along the river Nile and was extremely prosperous. The Nile provided them with good crops. The Egyptians created a way of writing using heiroglyphs, built huge temples and tombs, traded with other areas and had a powerful army. Their religion had many gods and their ruler, The Pharaoh was considered to be very close to the gods. Many famous rulers like Hatsheput and Queen Cleopetra are from this civilization.
