let the number be x
then if it is increased by 20% it will be
×+20%of×
=×+×/5
= 6x/5
then when it is decreased by 15% it will be
6×/5-15%of6×/5
=6×/5-15×6×/500
=6×/5-9x/50
=51x/50
then the actual increase is as following
(51x/50-x)÷100
=(x/50) ÷100
=x/5000 percent
