The below figure shows an electric circuit the following elements:

1. A battery as a source of direct current which supplies energy in the circuit for current to flow. Direct current provides uni-directional current. Here it has two cells.
2. Three bulbs A, B and C connected in parallel connection which shows A and C are glowing but B in not glowing.
3. Three plug keys, each in series with each of the bulbs. Plug key is a switch which has to be closed so that the circuit completes and current is allowed to flow.
4. Plug keys P and R are closed which means it lets current flow in it.
5. Plug Q is closed which is why there is no current flow in bulb B.
