Electro-magnetism

To make an iron nail behave as an electromagnet, we can follow the following steps:

• Keeps things like large iron nail, scissors, magnet wire(copper wire + thin coating), sandpaper, alligator clips , battery , staples handy.
• Take large iron nail and wind the wire around the nail at least 20-30 times.
• Cut the remaining wire with scissors leaving some extended part of it on both sides.
• Use sand papers to remove the thin coating of extended part of wire.
• Clip alligator clips to batteries and extended wire.
• Now , the iron nail can attract the staples present, as it will behave as electromagnet.
