Answer:

Let the Total Number be n.

  • Students get Percentage and failed by given Marks, so when we will Add them, they'll Pass in Exam.

◗ 1st Student : 20% + 60 = Pass

◗ 2nd Student : 15% + 120 = Pass

  • We will always Subtract Percent.
  • when there is Same Terms (Pass ; Pass, Fail ; Fail) then we Subtract the Marks.
  • when there is Opposite Terms (Pass ; Fail or, Fail ; Pass) then we Add the Marks.

According to the Question Now :

↠ Total Marks × Percentage = Marks

↠ n × (20% – 15%) = (120 – 60)

↠ n × 5% = 60

↠ n × 5/100 = 60

↠ n × 1/20 = 60

↠ n = 60 × 20

n = 1200 (Total Marks)

Total Marks in the examination was 1200.

AnswEr :

Let the Total Marks be x.

:\implies\tt Total\times20\%+60= Total\times15\%+120=Pass\\\\\\:\implies\tt \bigg(x \times \dfrac{20}{100} \bigg) + 60 =\bigg(x \times \dfrac{15}{100} \bigg) + 120\\\\\\:\implies\tt \dfrac{20x}{100} + 60 = \dfrac{15x}{100} + 120\\\\\\:\implies\tt  \dfrac{20x}{100} - \dfrac{15x}{100} =120 - 60\\\\\\:\implies\tt \dfrac{5x}{100} = 60\\\\\\:\implies\tt x =60 \times \dfrac{100}{5}\\\\\\:\implies\tt x =60 \times 20\\\\\\:\implies\underline{\boxed{\tt x =1200}}

\therefore\:\underline{\textsf{Total Marks in Exam was \textbf{1200}}.}
