Given:

A person donates 4% of his income to the orphanage

Deposits 10% of the balance in the bank

if he has a balance of 10800 rupees

To find:

The monthly income of that person

Solution:

Let "x" represent the monthly income of the person.

So,

The income donated to the orphanage = 4% of x = 0.04x

∴ After donation, the balance income left = x - 0.04x = 0.96x

The income deposited in the bank = 10% of the balance i.e., 0.1 × 0.96x = 0.096x

∴ After the money is deposited, the balance income left = 0.96x - 0.096x = 0.864x

But it is given that he was finally left with Rs. 10800

Therefore, we can form an equation as:

0.864x = 10800

\implies x = \frac{10800}{0.864}

\implies \bold{x = 12500}

Thus, the monthly income of that person is → Rs. 12500.
