Solution:

CP = x and y

लाभ  x  + 20%x   =10000

=> x = 10000/1.2

=> x= 25000/3

हानि

y - 20%y   =10000

=> y = 10000/0.8

=> y =  12500

x + y = 25000/3  + 12500

= ( 62500)/3

SP = 10000 + 10000 = 20000

CP > SP

हानि = ( 62500)/3  - 20000  = 2500/3

हानि प्रतिशत  = 100 *  (2500/3)/(( 62500)/3)

= 4 %

Given:

A person sold two types of articles at the rate of Rs 10000 each. On one of them, he lost 20% and on the other made 20% profit. Accordingly, what percentage of profit or loss did he make in the whole transaction?

To find:

उसे पूरे सौदे में उसे, कितने प्रतिशत लाभ या हानि हुई ?

Solution:

For the 1st article:

S.P. of the 1st article = Rs. 10000

Lost = 20%

∴ C.P. of 1st article = \frac{100}{100 - L\%} \times S.P. = \frac{100}{100 - 20} \times 10000 = \frac{100}{80} \times 10000 = Rs. 12500

For the 2nd article:

S.P. of the 2nd article = Rs. 10000

Profit = 20%

∴ C.P. of 2nd article = \frac{100}{100 +P\%} \times S.P. = \frac{100}{100 + 20} \times 10000 = \frac{100}{120} \times 10000 = Rs. 8333.34

Therefore,

The total S.P. of the two articles = Rs. 10000 + Rs. 10000 = Rs. 20000

The total C.P. of the two articles = Rs. 12500 + Rs. 8333.34 = Rs. 20833.34

Since the total C.P. > the total S.P.

∴ The person makes a loss in the overall transaction

Now,

The loss percentage in the whole transaction is,

= \frac{C.P. - S.P.}{C.P.} \times 100

= \frac{20833.34 - 20000}{20833.34} \times 100

= \frac{833.34 }{20833.34} \times 100

= \bold{4\%}

Thus, the person makes a loss of 4% in the whole transaction.
