El Niño can prevent upwelling along the Pacific Coast. What might happen if normal upwelling does not take place? Make predictions and support them with facts from the chapter.

We need to have in mind that Upwelling causes the zone at the top part of the ocean in which temperature decreases rapidly with depth to be much shallower. Also upwelling maintain warm sea surface temperatures at the western equatorial Pacific and cold surface temperatures in the east. The big problem in here is that |if upwelling does not work properly it causes surface waters in the eastern Pacific to became even warmer with increasing and very hot temperatures
