Alluri Sitaram Raju was the tribal chief from the gudem hills of Andhra Pradesh. In the early 1920s, he originated militant guerrilla Movement by urging the soldiers and armed civilians to use military tactics including pitfalls, demolition, assaults and hit-and-run tactics against the britishers.

Raju sparked the hill people to fight for the cause of independence because he was motivated non-cooperation movement led by Gandhiji. He inspired people to use Khadi but at the same time, he did not consider the method of  non-violence and believed that India could be liberated only by the method of force.
