sin^4x + cos^4x

=( sin^2x + cos^2x)^2 - 2sin^2xcos^2x

=(1)^2 - sin2x^2/2

= 1- sin^2 2x /2

you can end the answer here but im going to simplify further

multiplying and dividing by 4
=1/4 (4- 2sin^2 2x)
= 1/4 (4- (1- cos4x))
=1/4( 4-1 + cos4x)
=1/4(3+ cos4x)
