In 1956 an amendment was legislated in Sri Lanka to identified Sinhala as the exclusive official language, therefore, disregarding Tamils and their language.

The government favored strategies that support the Sinhalas to receive the job in national organizations and colleges position. Only attention was provided to Sinhala denomination. The minorities were rejected similar political benefits, distinguish them in receiving employment, training and neglecting their obligations and interests.
