Elaborate TMV and explain.
Answers
Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) is a positive-sense single stranded RNA virus, genus tobamovirus that infects a wide range of plants, especially tobacco and other members of the family Solanaceae. The infection causes characteristic patterns, such as "mosaic"-like mottling and discoloration on the leaves (hence the name). TMV was the first virus ever to be discovered. Although it was known from the late 19th century that an infectious disease was damaging tobacco crops, it was not until 1930 that the infectious agent was determined to be a virus. It is the first pathogen identified as a virus.
Elaboration and explanation of TMV:
The elaborative form of TMV is Tobacco Mosaic Virus. It is a disease causing virus which infects mostly the species of tobacco plant. It contains single stranded RNA as genetic material. It is a plant pathogen and doesn’t cause any harm to the human beings.
The plant infected with this virus shows symptoms such as stunted growth, malformation of leaves, Yellow spotted leaves etc. The best method to remove this virus is to burn the affected plant at the initial stage itself.
