¿ Elaborate upon the assembly election...
✎... Assembly elections in India are state-level elections held in the state of India. In these elections, the people of that state elect their public representatives, who are called 'MLA' for the governance of their state level.
Every state has its own Legislative Assembly. All the elected public representatives go to the Vidhan Bhavan after getting elected. The political party that gets the majority forms the government at the state level. The elected representatives of that political party choose their leadership and that elected leader becomes the Chief Minister of the state.
To contest the elections at the state level, either national parties like Congress or Bharatiya Janata Party also contest at the state level or there is some regional party in every state, which is trying to establish its supremacy at the state level in these elections. The term of the State Legislative Assembly is also 5 years like that of the Parliament.
The people of the state elect the state-level representative by giving their vote like a member of parliament. The same procedure is followed in selecting the representative of the state level, which is followed in choosing the member of parliament. State-level elections are also organised and managed by the Election Commission of India.
