in elastic collision there is not loss of kinetic energy hence ke is stored but in inelastic collision there is loss of ke takes place

in elastic collision deformation of bodies takes place which causes loss of kinetic energy.
but in perfectly elastic collision there is no deformation of bodies takes place, hence no loss in kinetic energy of system.
for elastic collision the 'e' value(coefficient of restitution ) lies between 0-1
but for perfectly elastic collision "e" value is equal to 1
for perfectly inelastic collision "e" value is 0.
