Elastic limit marks the end of elastic behavior and the beginning of a material's plastic behavior. Creating stresses beyond the elastic limit results in fracture for most brittle materials.

Elastic limit is basically the limit of any stretchable or deformable ...when the deforming force on the body is so much that the body permanently deforms and the elastic limit gets over thus the the original shape and side of the body cannot be gained back.....
