Yes election commission of India is an Independent organ which excercises power. Though election commissioner is appointed by the leagislature and executive. the working of parties and leaders during election can be questioned by the election commission. if any party or party candidate is not following the model code of conduct it has all the rights to remove the candidate from election. All govt workers will be under the control of the election commission and every worker must follow the orders issued by the election vommission during election duty. Therefor we can conclude that election commission is very powerful and an independent organ.
