Electoral literacy for stronger democracy

India is the largest democracy in the world.  Unfortunately, most Indians do not understand the true meaning of democracy. They are not aware of their voting rights . They also do not know the value of their votes.

In the current scenario of our Nation what is most needed is electoral literacy.

Since many of our citizens are not aware of the electronic system of casting votes, the candidates of an election and the political parties backing them, take full advantage of their ignorance.

Many a time the politically associated people cast the vote for these people without their knowledge while at other times they brainwash the people and make them press the button favouring their party.

It has often been noticed that the people are bribed with cash or kind to cast a vote.

All these hoodwinking will never be possible if the people are electorally literate. This will enable the people to think better and cast the vote for the right candidate.

Voting is the back bone of a democracy. The back bone strengthens when the vote cast is wise and thoughtful. So it is  very much necessary to make our population electorally literate and hence strengthen our democracy.
