Given:

Two infinite plane parallel sheets of charge of surface charge densities σ and -σ.

To find:

Electric Field Intensity ?

Calculation:

First of all, we know that conducting sheets of charge have a field intensity of \dfrac{\sigma}{2\epsilon_{0}}

Now, see the attached diagram !

Let net field intensity be E_{net}.

  • Field intensity between the plates will be addition of the individual plate field intensity.

 \rm \: E_{net} =  \dfrac{ \sigma}{ 2 \epsilon_{0 } }  + \dfrac{ \sigma}{ 2 \epsilon_{0 } }

 \rm  \implies\: E_{net} =  \dfrac{ 2\sigma}{ 2 \epsilon_{0 } }

 \rm  \implies\: E_{net} =  \dfrac{ \sigma}{\epsilon_{0 } }

So, option b) is correct !
