Answer:

  • 12 metres is the required answer .

Step-by-step explanation:

According to the Question

It is given that,

  • Length of Electric Pole = 36 cm
  • And the pole broke down at 16m from base .

we have to calculate the distance between the base of a pole to the broken part which touched the ground .

Since, the pole broke down 16 m from the base so, the length of broken part will be

→ Length of Broken Part = 36-16

Length of Broken Part = 20 m

here, broken part which touched the ground will be hypotenuse .

Now, using the Pythagoras Theorem

Hypotenuse² = Length² + Base²

by putting the value we get

↠ 20² = 16² + Base²

↠ Base² = 20² - 16²

↠ Base² = (20+16) (20-16)

↠ Base² = 36 × 4

↠ Base = √36 × √4

↠ Base = 6 × 2

↠ Base = 12m

  • Hence, the distance between the base of pole and the tip of broken part is 12 metres.
