Electric power systems consist of generation plants of different energy sources, transmission networks, and distribution lines. Each of these components can have environmental impacts at multiple stages of their development and use including in theirn construction, during the generation of electricity, and in their decommissioning and disposal. We can split these impacts into operational impacts (fuel sourcing, global atmospheric and localized pollution) and construction impacts (manufacturing, installation, decommissioning, and disposal). This page looks exclusively at the operational environmental impact of electricity generation. The page is organized by energy source and includes impacts such as water usage, emissions, local pollution, and wildlife displacement.
Water usage is one of the most obvious environmental impacts of electricity generation. All thermal cycles (coal, natural gas, nuclear, geothermal, and biomass) use water as a cooling fluid to drive the thermodynamic cycles that allow electricity to be extracted from heat energy.

Electrical energy generation and environment:

_______________________________________

Introduction: The electricity is undoubtedly one of the most important resources for our daily lifestyle which we mostly harness from our environment. That's why the electricity harnessing and the environment are very much related aspects.

Effects on environment:

• The raw resources from which we harness electricity are constantly depleted by the electricity generation process.

• The pollution which is created during the electricity generation,is very harmful for our environment.

(The above mentioned effects are only applicable for the non-renewable energy sources.)

Conclusion: As we know that the most of the electricity is currently generated from the non-renewable energy sources which are very harmful for our environment,we should slowly move towards the electricity generation procedures from the renewable energy sources.
