Answer:

The energy of water (or hydro energy) is in fact an indirect source of solar energy because it is the solar energy which is responsible for water cycle. The heat of solar energy evaporates water from ocean and the surface of the earth. The water vapours rise high in the atmosphere, get cooled and fall back to the earth in the form of rain and snow. The rain water and the water formed by melting of snow, then flows rapidly in the rivers and provides us with hydro energy.

Explanation:

In Hydro Power, the electricity is harvested from the kinetic energy of water flowing through a  turbine. The sun provided the heat energy to cause the evaporation. In considering most form of energy  currently known today, almost all can be traced back to the sun as the source of their energy.
