Electro India is a chain of 25 stores. The stores are located in various cities of India. The main office at Chennai has Mohan Asthana as the office manager and eight office assistants. Seven of the office assistants are efficient and very thorough. Once Asthana tells them what he wants, it is neatly done. The eighth assistant, Gokul Krishnan, is, however, a bit of a problem. He almost always has to redo the work assigned to him. Often the other assistants have to finish off his assignments for him to meet the deadlines. Asthana has started receiving complaints from the other assistants that Krishnan needs to pull his weight along.

Asthana does not want to terminate Krishnan. He knows Krishnan can be a hard worker. In fact, when Krishnan follows orders, he is almost always the first to finish. Asthana wonders why Krishnan does not seem to understand instructions while the other assistants always seem to. He is almost sure that although Krishnan is hearing, he is not listening.
