Electrolysis of active metals like Na, K, Ca is not carried out by using aqueous solution of their chlorides. why?

electrolysis of their aqueous solution is not feasible nd water in the solution would be discharged at the cathode in preference to the metal ions...
the only method is viable to extract these metals .i.e.by electrolysis of their fused compounds.
