The atomic number of sodium(Na) = 11

electronic configrration = 2,8,1

The atomic number of oxygen (O) = 8

electronic configeration = 2,6

Steps:

  1. Write the symbol of the element.
  2. Put the number of dots as the number of atoms at the outer shell

for example if you take sodium ,the number of atoms in the outer shell is 1. so you have to put one dot at the side of sodium.
