An Atom having electronic configuration (2,8,2), then the Atomic Number of the Atom will be (2+8+2) = 12

The Atom Having Atomic Number 12 is Magnesium (Mg).

So, X = Magnesium (mg)

Similarly, Atom Y has a Atomic Number Of (2+8+6) = 16

So, Y = Sulphur (S)

Compound Formed Will Be:

Valency Of Mg (2,8,2) = 2+

And Valency Of Sulphur (2,8,6) = 2-

The Valency Get Cancelled As They Are Of Opposite Signs.

So, Mg + S ----> MgS
