Explanation:

Actually electronic configuration of chromium is an exceptional case

So , when according to electronic configuration laws .... when we write chromium according to it we get [Ar] 4s1 3d4

But as we know that d orbital needs 5 or 10 electrons to be stable ... so to make itself stable it gains 1 electron from S orbital which is then left with 1 electron and is even then stable

So as to make chromium a more stable element then it will have electronic configuration as [Ar]4s1 3d5 not as [Ar] 4s1 3d4
