Explanation:

Since the equations are given so we know that 2N2 + 3N1 = 18 and the other equation 2N2 - 3N1 = 6. The equations on solving we will get the values of N1 and N2 by subtracting the seconds equation from the first.

So, the value of the N1 will be 2 and the value of the N2 will be 6 hence, the difference of the number of shells will be N2 - N1 which is 4. Since, we know the formulae to calculate the number of photons hence, the number of photons will be 4*(4+1)/2 = 10 electrons.
