(a) The simple ion of X will be a cation with 1 unit positive charge, i.e., X⁺.

- This is due to the fact that there is only 1 electron present in its valence shell.

- So it can easily donate it.

- It can be denoted as follows :

X ------> X⁺ + e⁻

(b) X will be a reducing agent as it is capable of donating the only valence electron present in it.

A. The sign of the charge of the ion of x will be X¹+ , the charge is positive charge

Explanation:

  • B. The compound which is given above it has only one electron in addition to the inert gas configuration from stock as a result of this it has the capability to lose that one electron. As a result of this it will lose that one electron and become oxidized.
  • Since oxidation and reduction reaction takes place simultaneously hence there will be reduction of the other compound ,so it is a reducing agent.
