Elevation of land is measured from the level of the sea, which is taken as zero. cansomeone pls explain this line ?

Answer: If you climbed a mountain they would say you were, lets say, 1,000 feet above sea level. If you were at sea level they would say that you didn't have any elevation. If you were below sea level maybe 1,000 feet they would say you were 1,000 feet below sea level. So, sea level is just the starting point for elevation.
