                                   y = b tan t   ----------------- (2)


Equation (1) can be written as x/a = sec t

Equation (2) can be written as y/b = tan t


Squaring on both sides, we get

x^2/a^2 - y^2/b^2 = sec^2 t - tan^2 t

x^2/a^2 - y^2/b^2 = 1
