2x + 5 = 5y + 6

2x - 5y = 6 - 5 = 1

2x - 5y = 1     ---------(1)

3(2x + y) = 24 -x

6x + 3y = 24 - x

7x + 3y = 24   ----------(2)

(1) × 7 =>

14x - 35y = 7   ---------(3)

(2) × 2 =>

14x + 6y = 48   ---------(4)

(4) - (3) =>

14x + 6y - 14x + 35y = 48 - 7

41y = 41

y = 41/41

y = 1

Substituting y = 1 in (1)

2x - 5y = 1

2x - 5(1) = 1

2x - 5 = 1

2x = 5 + 1

2x = 6

x = 3

Therefore,

x = 3 and

y = 1
