Answer :

x = 6 , y = 4

Solution :

Here ,

The given system of linear equations is ;

-x + 3y = 6 -------(1)

x + 3y = 18 ------(2)

Now ,

Adding eq-(1) and (2) , we get ;

=> -x + 3y + x + 3y = 6 + 18

=> 6y = 24

=> y = 24/6

=> y = 4

Now ,

Putting y = 4 in eq-(2) , we get ;

=> x + 3y = 18

=> x + 3•4 = 18

=> x + 12 = 18

=> x = 18 - 12

=> x = 6

Hence ,

x = 6 , y = 4
