Basidiomycetes:

  • They are also known as club fungi

  • They are called club fungi as a club shaped basidium is formed in them.

  • They grow on logs, in soil, and tree stumps.

  • They are parasites

  • In clamp connection dikaryotisation is present.

  • Fusion can take place between different genotypes.

  • They are heterothallic.

  • Asexual reproduction isn't generally found in basidiomycetes.

  • Vegetative reproduction is by fragmentation.

  • Sexual reproduction takes place by two methods:

  1. Somatogamy
  2. Spermatization
