Step-by-step explanation:

Let the.......

Length (l) of the aquarium

= 80 cm

Breadth (b) of the aquarium

= 30 cm

Height (h) of the aquarium

= 40 cm

paper needed  ......

= 4 x Area of the side facing glass walls + (Base face)

= 4 x l x h + l x b

= 4 x 80 x 40 + 80 x 30

= 12800 +2400

= 15200

The length of aquarium =l=80cm

Width of aquarium =b=30cm

Height of the aquarium= h = 40 cm

Area of the base = 1 x b = 80 ×30

= 2400 cm

  • Area of the side face=b×h = 30 ×40
  • = 1200 cm

  • Area of the back face = 1× h = 80 ×40
  • = 3200 cm

  • Required area = Area of the base + area of the back face+ (2 x area of a side face)

  • = 2400 + 3200 + (2 x 1200) = 8000 cm

Hence the area of the coloured paper required is 8000 cm².
