What is the difference between Embassy | Consulate | High Commission What is the difference between Embassy, Consulate & High CommissionOften we will be hearing the terms Embassy, Consulate & High Commission. Sometimes we get confused and treat as synonyms, but in real these terms carry different definition altogether. The term Embassy carry more weight when compared with Consulate & High Commission. Embassy are permanent in nature and will be only one per country where as Consulate & High Commission be more than one.
What is a Embassy:
Embassy is a diplomatic mission with a group of people from one country present in another state to represent the origin country & permanent in nature. In general terms Embassy is a office of one country present in the capital of another country. There person who is representing and being represented known as Ambassador of the respective country. The Ambassador is the highest official in the rank of Embassy and Chief Diplomat and spokesperson for the Embassy. When both countries mutually agree to maintain good foreign relations and provide assistance to travelling citizens of other country and vice verse they allow each other to establish Embassy in respective countries.
