Soviet Union became an arrogant country after emerging victorious in the second world war.   President Stalin promoted heavy industries and large scale agriculture to make it a communist superpower.  Their conflict with the US started a nuclear weapons and missiles race which became a threat for other countries in Asia.  It possessed so many nuclear warheads that it could have destroyed the world many times.
