let the present age of son be = X years
therefore Amans present age =3X years
ten years ago sons age = (X-10)
amans age =3X-10
according to the condition we have
songs age ( 10 years ago ) ×5= Amans age (10 years ago)
or. (X-10) ×5= (3X-10)
or. 5x-50=3x-10
transposing (-50) to RHS and 3x to LHS ,we have
5x-3x=(-10)+50
2x=40
x=40/2
x= 20
dividing both sides by 2
3x= 3×20
sons present age =20
Amans present age=60
therefore Amans present age =3X years
