Given:

Emilia is painting a triangular picture frame.

The perimeter is 30 inches.

If one side is 13  inches long and another side is 5 inches long

To find:

What is the length of the other side of the  picture frame?

Solution:

The length of one side of the triangular frame = 13 inches

The length of another side of the triangular frame = 5 inches

The perimeter of the triangular frame = 30 inches

We know,

\boxed{\bold{Perimeter\:of\:a\:triangle = sum \:of\: all\: 3\: sides }}

Let's assume "x" inches represents the length of the other side of the picture frame.

∴ The perimeter of the triangular frame = 13 + 5 + x

perimeter is given as 30 inches

⇒ 30 = 13 + 5 + x

⇒ 30 = 18 + x

⇒ x = 30 - 18

x = 12 inches

Thus, the length of the other side of the picture frame is12 inches.
