Answer:

Empirical formula mass(C2H3O2)=(2×12)+(1×3)+(16×2)

=59

molecular weight =118

molecular formula =???

we know ,

n=molecular mass/emperical formula mass

n=118/59

n=2

again,

molecular formula=n × emperical formula

molecular formula=2×(C2H3O2)

=C4H6O4

Answer:

C4 H6 O4

Explanation:

empirical mass = 12 * 2  + 1 * 3 + 16 * 4 = 59

n = molecular mass / empirical mass

n = 118 / 59 = 2

molecular formula = empirical formula * n

                              = (C2 H3 O4)*2 = C4 H6 O4
