empty box is in shape of cylinder surmounted by a conical top. If radius of box is 12cm, slant

height of cone is 13cm and height of cylinder is 11cm. Find the total surface area of this box.​

Solution :-

→ Radius of the conical part = Radius of the cylindrical part = 12 cm

→ Height of cylindrical part = 11 cm .

→ Slant height of the cone = 13 cm .

So,

→ Total Surface area of the box = Curved surface area of the conical part + curved surface area of the cylindrical part .

→ TSA of box = πrl + 2πrh

→ TSA of box = πr(l + 2h)

→ TSA of box = (22/7) * 12(13 + 2*11)

→ TSA of box = (22/7) * 12 * 35

→ TSA of box = 22 * 12 * 5

→ TSA of box = 1320 cm². (Ans.)
