Answer:

Derry feels that Mr. Lamb has changed the subject about picking the crab apples for making jam when he was worryingly explaining his ugly and unimpressive appearance as he thinks that Mr. Lamb is pretending  not to look at the burnt scar of Derry as he's too afraid like others to question him.

No. I do not agree with Derry. Mr. Lamb is a soft-spoken and harmless old man and never has the habit of judging others by their appearance. He always has a perspective of looking into the goodness in everything and every possible way.

Such an optimistic person would not have thought about Derry as how he expected. Mr. Lamb even made to look at Derry's perspective in a better way by saying that he too has got a tin leg which made him be addressed as Lamey-Lamb.

But Mr. Lamb never worries about it and always treats all those who address him in such a rude way with his gentleness and care.

So what Derry felt was wrong.
