a-The two magnetic field lines do not intersect each other because if they do it means at the point of intersecting the compass needle is showing two different directions which are not possible.

b-Magnetic field lines are closed curve because magnetic monopoles do not exit. Outside a magnet direction of magnetic field, lines are from north to the South Pole and inside a magnet the direction if from south to north, hence forming a closed loop.
