it was the first encylopedia in marathi language.
shridhar venkatesh ketkar was the cheif editor of the encylopedia.
work began in 1916 and completed in 1928.

Marathi Vishwakosh is the encyclopedia in Marathi language which is online and funded by government of Maharashtra.  This online encyclopedia project was inaugurated in Maharashtra  

Eighteen volumes of encyclopedia were published.  Many other articles were also published digitally as per the instructions of the chief minister of Maharashtra.  

Solid encyclopedia which is hard copy in Marathi language is called Dnyankosli in Marathi. It includes all major historical events, culture and traditions and customs and beliefs of Marathas.
