The process of a cell swelling dur to Hypnotic solution is called as Endosmosis .

Even though bith undergo the smse Hypnotic solution :

The concentration of solute is less than the solvent . Means that the outer concentration is more than the inside so as water moves from higher concentrations to lower concentrations ; the water or solvent moves inside.

In animal cell due to the absence of cell wall ; it may burst dur to such pressure from inside while in plant cells it won't happen as cell wall is present .

  • Hypertonic solution :

Concentration of solute is more than solvent . So water moves outside . This causes shrinkage of cell . In plants this has a special name called plasmolysis

  • Isotonic solution :

Concentration is equal so no net movement is seen .

Answer :-

Endosmosis : The movement of water into the cell is called endosmosis.

When the dried grapes are kept in the hypotonic solution (less concentrated/water) then water will move inside the grapes.

The percentage of water absorbed by the raisin can be calculated by calculating the increase in the weight of the raisins.

☆More information☆

what is Hypotonic solution?

When a cell (dry raisin) is dropped in water, the cell has a less water concentration then the the medium in which it is kept .

The water molecules will flow into the cell, and it it will swell up or even can brust as in the case of animal cells .

Such a solution is called hypotonic solution. This is Endosmosis.
