λ = wavelength of the photon emitted from sodium vapour lamp = 5890 x 10⁻¹⁰ meter

c = speed of the photon = 3 x 10⁸ meter per second

h = plank's constant = 6.63 x 10⁻³⁴

E = energy of photon

we know that , energy of a photon is given as

E = hc/λ

inserting the above mentioned values in the formula

E = (6.63 x 10⁻³⁴) (3 x 10⁸)/(5890 x 10⁻¹⁰)

E = 3.38 x 10⁻¹⁹ Joules
