My uncle and aunt had recently moved from America, to our city. We had not met them for the last five years and so we decided to invite them and some other relatives of ours, over for dinner. What was supposed to be a pleasant evening turned out to be quite an annoying one, for many reasons.
To begin with, the guests of honour, showed up an hour late. The other family was on time and we were waiting for Uncle's family. We were nearly famished when they arrived, the adults and their two children, all dressed to tee, accompanied by their pet! My mother is not fond of dogs or dog hair in the food. While they smiled and greeted us with hugs, the sight of the dog wiped the smiles off our faces. When we suggested that they tie the dog in a corner, we got an earful of how to care for pets. The best we could do was restrict it to one room.
After serving the snacks, my mother laid out the table. Aunt served the eager children first, overloading their plates. As expected, they wasted a lot of food, despite them trying to feed the dog out of their plates. The food found its way onto the floor, the carpet and even the bed. Aunt and Uncle did not bother cleaning up. They were too busy criticising India. Everyone was getting agitated now, with their talks and the behaviour of their children.
When we were mid-way through dinner, Uncle suddenly announced, with a rather serious look on his face, that they had to leave in ten minutes. He was very particular about getting to bed at half past ten each night. So, we got rushed into finishing up dinner. Bewildered and feeling lost, the other family also quietly said that they would like to leave too. By now, my mother had secretly decided not to serve any desserts- they did not have time for it anyway. As the last guest left, we heaved a collective sigh of relief, then went straight to the fridge and pulled out the big bowl of trifle pudding. We then sat together and enjoyed our dessert together, in perfect peace.

My mother and my uncle had a huge fight that I am didn't know for a long time. When the fight was at peak point, my father was really angry with my uncle and his son. He was very angry that he gave a punch on my uncle nose.
I wasn't born during that time but my brother who was 5 year old child remembered everything with minute detail. I am very suspicious of the details he know. He said my uncle has a scar of it on his nose. I have never seen my uncle or my cousin.
My brother told me that my mom was accused for stealing my maternal grandmother's diamond necklace. The blame was first initiated by my cousin and he also told me that he is very suspicious that my aunt was smiling during the whole scenario.
Two days ago, my maternal grandfather passed away. So, we are going to our maternal grandparent's house. This is my first time, I am very excited. The big news is my uncle and his family are also coming for the funeral. It is time for me to check scar on my uncle's nose and breath fire (just like dragon) on my cousin for blaming my mother.
When I asked my mother about funeral, she had a sad smile. She neither cried nor wept. She said that she had a good childhood with my uncle and my grandparents.
When I reached my grandparent's place, the house was quiet a show. It was very big with a very long terrace. My grandparent's were quiet loaded. We went inside, we saw our grandmother weeping with relatives. My mother moved to my grandmother and held her. Still, my mother didn't shed even a single tear.
I tired to get my grandfather's face, my mother has his forehead and ears. The resemblance was quite amazing. Now, the whole room became silent when a group of people moved in. My mom beside me became rigid, on sensing the tension, I saw the people. The old man in that group has a well-visible scar on his nose. I am never going to judge my brother.
They were all dressed in beige color. Everything with them was in same color. Even their skin was in beige color. I think if I touch, I palm will be in beige color.
I didn't know all my relatives resented my uncle's family. My brother near me whispered that my aunt is a bad lady and she would have poisoned my grandfather for the money. I have a good eyes for snakes. Yes, she is not good and I can see my cousin. I felt a rage in the instant I saw him. He as no rights to blame my mother. After all, he is a child.
I think I saw my mother wiping her eyes. They stood before the body of my grandfather. It was very dramatic. They was posing like that for few minutes. All were whispering about my aunt. After a few minutes later, a old man started to clap on the face of my aunt. That lady had a sharp nose. He said that my aunt killed my grandfather and referred my grandfather as brother. He said that my grandfather know they were going to kill him and my grandfather asked his brother to do nothing about it. After that, the old gentleman walked away without any words.
They stood for some seconds and left. I sighed a little and saw my brother. His eyes said, "isn't it insane?"
