Citizens’ movement India Green and Wild and Humane Animal Society (HAS) on Saturday organised a rally to create awareness among children and the youth on the need to protect the environment for future generations.
Around 500 people, including students from various schools, colleges, nature enthusiasts and members of the public took part in the rally held at Race Course.
The organisers said that the platform for the rally was created to take up the issues related to climate change and environment with the motto of protection (of trees, water bodies and natural resources), conservation (of environment, forests, nature) and correction (of lifestyle and use of plastics).The organisers had reached out to the schools to educate students as they are the generation that will face the maximum impact of the current problems emanating and that are threat to the environment.
Mini Vasudevan of HAS said that similar rallies were held simultaneously at 60 cities in the country as part of the mass awareness campaign.
The participants of the rally held placards that carried messages on the protection of the environment, biodiversity and issues that are affecting the environment.
