No. of boys=18

No. of girls=1/5 of X= 1/5 X

Therefore,

X =1/5 X +18

(Transposing 1/5x to LHS)

X-1/5x=18

5x-1x/5=18

4/5x=18

Transposing 5 to RHS

4 X= 18*5

4 X=90

X=90/4=22.5
