How To Translate In Hindi ?

Avoid Your Native Language

If you are translating in Hindi, it will be important that you avoid thinking in English. You may be wondering why? The reason is that you don’t want the English structure to come out with Hindi words.

Read More Often

You may be still learning Hindi and this could be causing you some trouble while you don’t know how to say some words. It is going to be good if you read more so that you can learn new vocabulary, expressions, slang and idioms which can make your translation a lot more native sounding.

Beware Of False Friends!

False friends are everywhere in languages and you may be confident about some words but you cannot allow your overconfidence damage your translation work. If you don’t know what a false friend is then you should learn that they are words that are too similar in two languages but have different meanings. The bad side of them is of course that they could make your translation have a wrong meaning and make it sound really bad. As an example, consider the words “kat” in Hindi which could make you think of “cat” the animal when in reality means “cut”. Hindi Translations should never be translated literally.

Use A Glossary

If you are the kind of person who likes collecting information to read it many times, a glossary may suit you. If you use a glossary, your chances of getting more in touch with some words will increase and these words may appear in the other translations you may do in the future.

Don’t Be So Literal

Translating everything literally would make you take the risk of missing important parts of the information you are working on. For example, if you translate “it is raining cats and dogs” in a literal way to any language, people will think you are in a fantasy world where you actually see cats and dogs coming out of the clouds! Read Your Translations Twice Or Even Three Times.
