The two types of reactions which do not involve the principle of reactivity series for product formation are:
(1) COMBUSTION REACTIONS.
- Combustion takes place when a compound undergoes oxidation to produce heat and a new product.
- For Example:
C + O2 → CO2 + Heat
(2) DECOMPOSITION REACTIONS.
- Decomposition occurs when a chemical compound splits up into a no of new compounds on supplying energy.
- For example:
CaCO3 + energy → CaO + CO2
- Both the above reactions do not involve any principle of reactivity series.
